Holden reveals the new VF Commodore (Calais V). The Chevrolet SS Sports Sedan for the USA

Holden is really going crazy over this new Commodore, calling it the best Commodore ever, that is also safer, more user-friendly and more fuel efficient. But what bothers me is that it looks like an Opel even if they say they "raised the bar". Richard Ferlazzo Holden Chief Designer (Creative Design) even said they took "a great existing form and brought it up to another level,”

I disagree, it still looks like an Opel Insignia (the back is more similar to the Malibu), and i actually prefer the VE, it was more distinctive. Having said that the car isn't ugly, it is classy and looks more luxurious, and while the interior is completely new, the exterior has the roof, doors and glasses of the older model. Besides that it was completely designed and engineered in Australia, something to be proud of.

One of the main aspects is the inclusion of several technologically advanced features, like the Auto Park Assist available on all modes, where the driver operates the pedals but the car effectively parks itself and you can choose between a parallel or 90 degree angle park. You also have the MyLink infotainment system and keyless entry and start.

The new safety features include Reverse Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and a Head-Up Display. Pretty cool, right?

Engines or specifications weren't revealed but the car will go on sale in Australia from Mid-2013, and will reach the United States of America as the Chevrolet SS, both built in Australia. Still the engines should be the same V6 and V8 from the VE model. See the Calais V gallery below.

Oh and don't worry this won't be the last Commodore, a new one will show up in 2016.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 convertible in the Geneva Motor Show

Seems like the convertible version of the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will have its public presentation at this years Geneva Motor Show starting from March 7. This means the convertible will go on sale later this year. And it isn't the first time Chevrolet introduced the convertible version of the Corvette in Europe. In 2004 the sixth-generation Corvette convertible had his premiere in Geneva.

Nothing is confirmed, but the engine is expected to be the same from the coupe, a new 6.2liter LT1 V8 engine with an estimated 450hp (335 kW) and 610Nm (450 lb/ft) of torque connected to a seven-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. The new convertible should retain the fabric top. We should also find out the prices for Europe.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7. The Return of the Stingray [Video]

Here you have one of the most anticipated premieres of the Detroit Auto Show. GM calls it the return of the Stingray comparing it with the model from 1963, which equally incorporates, according to General Motors North America President Mark Reuss, "performance leadership, delivering cutting-edge technologies, breathtaking design and awe-inspiring driving experiences,”.

The Corvette Stingray only shares two parts with the previous generation and those don't include the all new frame structure, chassis, powertrain, interior and exterior.

About the powertrain, the C7 has a new 6.2liter LT1 V8 engine with an estimated 450hp (335 kW) and 610Nm (450 lb/ft) of torque connected to a seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching or an automatic gearbox with six speeds, meaning it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in less than four seconds.

The engine uses several new technologies to help save fuel, such as, direct injection, Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system. All of this allows for a consumption of just 9l/100km (26 US mpg).

The use of composite and carbon-fiber body panels, hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components allow for a 50/50 weight distribution.

The sports car will be built at GM’s Bowling Green, Ky., assembly plant and sales will start in the third quarter of 2013.

Two days ago we showed you here pictures taken of the Road&Track magazine displaying the front of the new sports car, whereas the rear appeared in the Automobile magazine. Now you can see three new images of the seventh-generation Corvette, including the interior.

The new 6.2liter V8 produces 450hp and 610Nm (450 lb/ft), and will take less than 4 seconds to reach 100km/h. It will be the most economical Corvette ever with an average fuel consumption of 9l/100km (26.14 US mpg), and the measures to achieve this include direct injection, Active Fuel Management (AFM) and continuously variable valve timing.

The presentation will happen in just two hours, so stay tuned!

Short News: Next generation Chevrolet Camaro will get a 4-cylinder engine!

It now seems that the smaller the engine is, the better it is. This means the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, which will be an all new version, will get a 4-cylinder, 2.0liter, turbo engine with around 270hp, borrowed from the Cadillac ATS and XTS.

We remind you that this announcement is made after Ford revealed the 2015 Mustang will also get a 4-cylinder turbo engine. But it will still be possible to choose other more powerful engines with 6 or 8 cylinders.

2014 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado - New engines and new design, still ugly

General Motors revealed the 2014 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado ahead of the scheduled debut in the Detroit Auto Show (North American International Auto Show), next January.

Let's start with the engines. GM introduced three new EcoTec3 engines, a 4.3liter V6, a 5.3liter V8 and a 6.2liter V8 whose specifications are still unknown, but we know they will have direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, new pistons, new cylinder head design with a compression ratio of at least 11:1 and cylinder deactivation technology.

GM promises, besides being more fuel efficient, the trucks will also be more comfortable and will have better handling, thanks to the new suspension, electric power steering, body mounts, brakes and wider wheels.

Outside, one of the major objectives was to reduce the noise caused by wind and the drag. But that did not stop GMs designers from increasing the front grille and headlamps. You even have optional LED lights in the bed rails besides those in the headlamps (GMC). And if you want you can choose from 17 to 20inches rims and a special 22inch wheel is also available.

In the cabin the interiors are all new, with an upright instrument panel, six-gauge instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch color Driver Information Center displaying vehicle and infotainment data. Also available will be the IntelliLink system with an eight inch color touchscreen, plus a 110-volt outlet, up to five USB ports, four 12-volt outlets and a SD card slot.

Standard safety features include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning with an Active Safety Seat, Front and Rear Park Assist, StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist.
