Special Lamborghini model for Geneva

To celebrate 50 years since the foundation of the Lamborghini brand, the Italian company announced a series of special events. One of them will happen in the Geneva Motor Show with the presentation of a special model.

This was confirmed by the company's CEO Stephan Winkelmann, and Lamborghini’s head of research and development Maurizio Reggiano added that “We want it to be a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and we want it to shock and reward” and “Usually we present something because we want to produce or sell it”, so we can expect that someone with many million euros or dollars will buy it.

We will have to wait and see what type of car will the Italian car maker present to the public next month.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento production version

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento was first introduced in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show and was soon acclaimed as one of the best looking supercars seen so far, still having that familiar and also radical Lamborghini look. As a curiosity the Sesto Elemento's name is a reference to the atomic number of carbon, due to the extensive use of fiber carbon.

And it is thanks to the carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) that the car can have a curb weight of only 999 kilograms (2.202 lb), and with the engine (5,2liter V10) from the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera that produces 570 horsepower and 540 Nm (398 lb·ft) of torque, it has a power-to-weight ratio of 1,75 kg/hp (3,85 lb/hp).

The all-wheel drive Sesto Elemento will take 2,5 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) and won't be able accelerate beyond the 320km/h (200mph). Production will take place in the so-called Lamborghini Pre-Series Center, a special facility which was set up specifically to produce special models.

The price? 1.5 million euros or almost 2 million dollars. but if you have that money and want to buy , you can't since the twenty units that will be produced have all been sold.

Lamborghini Urus might not be produced after all

According to Stephan Winkelmann, the current CEO of the Italian brand, the Volkswagen Group doesn't need a new luxury SUV. VW already has the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg and for next year we may have the Bentley EXP 9 F and the Audi Q8.

Winkelmann also said that it isn't a priority for them, because they don't need it. Lamborghini sales are going strong and the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 has received orders until the end of next year.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

Finally the Roadster version of the Lamborghini Aventador has been revealed by the Italian company together with the full details of the vehicle.

This new version has a carbon fiber roof that weighs only 6kg (13lbs), is stronger than titanium thanks to Lamborghini's Forged Composite Technology. The engine is the same V12 6.5liter normally-aspirated (NA) engine with a stop/start system, cylinder deactivation, and is connected to a 7-speed automatic gearbox taking 3 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) and a top speed of 349 km/h (217 mph) with the roof up.

Lamborghini’s engineers changed the car’s rear pillars to provide additional strength, it also provides extra ventilation to the engine and offers more protection in case of a roll over, they also installed a powered rear windscreen and a wind deflector on top of the front windscreen to allow a better airflow and silence when the roof is removed.

Sales of the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster will start next summer. Prices will begin from 300.000€.

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster LP700-4

The car will be presented to a selected and special Lamborghini clients between November 8 and 29, in Miami, Florida, and will be officially unveiled to the public, in the Los Angeles Auto Show, starting November 30. In Europe Lamborghini has planned several showcases for the next few weeks in their own factory.
